Try doing other things - if it works then great, if it does not, then at least you will have done something practical with your time that you may want to use, rather than just focus on your anxiety. You know, it can be very enjoyable to work to the beat of some music in your head - you tend to get a lot more done than otherwise, it is inspiring and motivating and keeps you hopping so to speak. What kind of beat is it? Maybe you can pick some activity that goes with your beat or your mood and work with it. Some other song may lead you to another activity. When I see a gardener at work outdoors I rarely see them walking about with a vacant stare on their face ready for any input from their environment - a blank slate. I usually see them bopping away to the rhythm of their own beat whether it is through a headset, radio speakerphone or just something that only they can hear in their head - they look so happy. Of course you have to be careful to pay attention and follow common sense to be aware of your surroundings at all times, but I am saying that at least people used to work with their bodies in harmony and it could work today also, we don't work with on and off buttons as you have found - that is something that TV and gadgets have mistakenly led us to believe, we are more connected to the world in actual fact so if maybe you found your inner connection with the world maybe you could enjoy the accompaniment as something positive in your life - not everyone can do it you know, some people can't hear a thing and wish they did - those people HAVE to have a machine or make their own music to hear anything. Some suggestions below and enjoy! ALso, if you hear music, you must be musical or creative or perhaps artistic? have you ever been to a career counsellor and or had yourself tested for creative abilities? have you ever tried to develop your own creative skills or talents? Who knows what you could be missing - or could do if you tried, volunteer work often uncovers hidden talents also. Good luck! Those are just a few ideas, of course I don't know you at all, these ideas may be not for you but then others with the same question may find something there.
