I am by no means an expert on the topic, but I believe you will need to contact the owner of the Greatful Dead's merchandising rights. Currently that is Rhino Entertainment.

How do I get permission to sell pictures I took at a concert of the Grateful dead.
I took pictures at a Grateful Dead concert in 1977 at the Arizona State Activity Center. I am wondering how I can market these pictures leagally.?

That's a shame, I would keep trying with your phone, email and even letter. These huge companies are sometimes way behind in the times and take a lot of time to respond to inquiries.
