If you are trying to save a song from a website (such a midi) Right click click save taget as, (if you are doing this at school or from a work computer where web pages are blocked) it might not allow you to do this because the filter blocks the hosting site connected to that file.
If you are doing this from home, I would suggest ITunes (if you have an ipod).
Amazon if you are just downloading the song.
There are illegal ways to pirate music.....
(THESE ARE SUGGESTIONS NOT ENCOURAGED)
www.kazaa.com (this one is full of viruses and junk)
www.limewire.com (this one is less junkish)
www.sharebear.com (havent heard of anyone using this one)
In the end buying your music usually turns out better (quality), you also dont have to worry about big brother sticking his nose in and dinging you for 16k for 500 songs you downloaded.

What you are then looking at would most likely be the html coding that the page is written in.
Within the html coding, you want to find something like
The .mp3 can be substituted with any other audio format. If you copy and paste the address within the quotations in your browser's address bar, you should be able to download the song.
You may want to look for as well. And copy and paste the contents between the quotations into your address bar.
