Good songs for Karaoke?

I'm a karaoke junkie, and am constantly looking to challenge myself at the stage. I'm looking for fairly well-known songs that would be likely to be in a Karaoke book but aren't the most obvious choices. I mean, I can only sing 'I Will Survive' so many times...

Here are a few I've enjoyed seeing/performing:

"Hit Me with Your Best Shot"
"Since U Been Gone"
"New York, New York"
"Rehab"
"Wake me up before you go go"
"Sweet Home Alabama"
"Build Me Up Buttercup"
"Total Eclipse of the Heart"
"I Think We’re Alone Now"
"Kiss me Deadly"
"Friends In Low Places"
"Barbie Girl"

The best karaoke songs are cheesy '80s rock songs that everyone knows. For example:

"Don't Stop Believin'" by Journey

"Pour Some Sugar On Me" by Def Leppard
"Livin' on a Prayer" by Bon Jovi
"Cherry Pie" by Warrant

"Summer of 69" by Bryan Adams
"Here I Go Again" by Whitesnake

When it comes down to it, just about anything by Whitesnake, Pat Benetar, Motley Crue, Poison, Scorpions, Def Leppard, Bon Jovi, Journey and others are good. Also, straying from the rock genre, Michael Jackson songs are always top notch for karaoke.

I appreciate these, but I am a girl. Most of these songs are sung by guys, which does not disqualify them per se, but they are not really in my vocal range.

Michael Jackson is, however.

While I realize you are female and looking for fewer "male" songs, I would still like to suggest the Karaoke killer: R.E.M.'s "It's The End Of The World As We Know It (And I Feel Fine)." Not really a lot of singing involved...just the chorus. Definitely a challenge. So far I've only been able to get through the first verse. Personally, I wait to break this one out several hours into the Karaoke gathering - more fun later in the evening...

And of course, Joan Jett is a classic:

Depending on your range, Blondie is a personal favorite - especially "Heart of Glass" (I am such an 80s child):

Paradise By the Dashboard Light by Meatloaf is always a winner!
