Ray LaMontagne or John Legend, that is a tough call.

Ray has been called the modern day Van Morrison and had great success with his debut single "Trouble". I personally love the song.

John reminds me of Smokey Robinson with his lyrics and melodies. The track "Slow Dance" is a great love song. John is a top notch crooner.

In the end I'm going to go with Ray LaMontagne over John Legend. Ray has a bluesy, folksy classic with the track "Trouble".

for me i cannot consider the two as love songs(as i said for me but i will still say which one i prefer to the other)

"A love song is about falling in love and the happiness it brings. By contrast, a heartbreak song is about a relationship breaking down, or the sadness of a love that has died. Anthologies of love songs often contain a mixture of both of these types of song. A bawdy song is both humorous and saucy, emphasizing the physical pleasure of love rather than the emotional joy." information obtain from http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lovge_son)

i would say for me the best love song would be FROM THIS MOMENT ON (sung by SHANIA TWAIN) now this is what i would consider as a love song or Kelly CLARKSON (A MOMENT LIKE THIS)

out of the two love songs i would give the better song to JOHN LEGEND "SLOW DANCE"
John Legend's song is a very serious passive one. in it he is appealing to his love one to just forget about everything on her mind and concentrate on what is going to happen the slow dance. just let us sink into each other and slow dance . to me i can't say Ray Lamontagne "TROUBLE" is a love song.
