OPEN THREAD: Rick Astley Vs Nine Inch Nails mash-up

Thoughts on this mash-up? Love it or hate it? Is the Rick Roll old news by now? Are there better mash-ups to "Never Gonna Give You Up"?

There's just something about the pitch of his voice that doesn't go well with the lovely NIN drone. I had my nose kinda scrunched up while listening to it, so I'd have to go with 'hated it'.

I'll confess right now, I'm not a fan of Rick Astley but I love Trent Reznor and have heard much better NIN mash ups. Here are two of my favorites.

Hope you don't mind... I didn't feel like looking for other mixes to 'Never Gonna Give You Up'. You can only Rick Roll for so long before it becomes old hat.

Maybe I can appease the 80's gods by showing a Human League mash up with NIN.

Not so big on Human League (I was a heavy metal boy back then, so never had a "League phase")

But the Beatles mashup works for me
(warning: Trent is a potty mouth in the video)

I have to agree that Rick's voice doesn't go well with the song, at least not during the verse sections. The chorus isn't nearly as bad and some of the effects on his voice to make it seem more like something that was produced recently are well done, but overall it doesn't really mash-up well.

As I have done a few remixes and mash-ups in my time, I can tell you what I think happened is they realized how much the chorus worked together then tried to make the whole song work, but it doesn't.

Not bad. I kind of like it. I think it goes together about as well as you can expect from mixing two completely different songs. The Rick Roll thing is pretty old by now. I'm not sure if there are any other better Rick Astley mashups, but I don't really want to go looking for them hehe.
