How many people worldwide own an mp3 player as of December 2008?

According to Mintel market research there are an estimated 106 million mp3 players in the US. I'm looking for the number globally, more recent the better, but data less than a year old is probably okay.

For 2008 the number is an estimate of 14.5 million in the US which is currently 75% of the market which puts global sales about 18.125 million world wide

14.5 million dollars? or units in existence? and is that a number just for 2008?
i'm looking for total number of people who own an mp3 player on earth, regardless of when they purchased it or how much they paid.
