How do I get rid of multiple songs on my Sansa E280?

I tried to make a playlist on my Sansa E280 mp3 player using the latest version of winamp. I was trying to make a playlist using songs already on it because I can't seem to do it with Windows Media Player. Not only did the playlist not show up but the songs I had chosen for it now had duplicates in their respective folder. If I plug it into the computer it tells me that the songs are only on there once but winamp still shows me the playlist that I made and the songs are still duplicated. How can I rid myself of these additional songs?

When you startup WInamp, Go to the 'portables' section in the Media library tab.
And you can delete them from there. (You may need the full version for this)

If your Sansa E280 is not showing up in the portables section, then you could try this.

Upgrade The Firmware - http://www.ehow.com/how_2308344_update-firmware-sansa-mp3-player.html

Switching between MSC and MTP modes
  • Turn the Sansa on, if it is not already
  • Navigate to the main menu of the player; this is the same menu that gives us options such as Play, Record, Info, etc...
  • Navigate to "Settings" on the main menu of the player.
  • After navigating to "Settings", we should see an option that states "USB" or "USB MODE"
  • From here we can select MSC or MTP modes (could vary based on player model)
  • Highlight the desired mode and select it, at this point it will roll back to the 'Settings' menu
  • Connect the player to the computer and verify it is connecting in the desired mode.
It should be noted, when a device is in MSC mode, it will appear as a
"Removable disk". When connected in MTP mode, it will show up as an
"Audio Device"

* Plays For Sure = MTP
** Rhapsody Mode = Mass Storage Class/Device = MSC
*** Auto Detect = checks for MTP drivers first, if not found, defaults to MSC

**** The Sansa View does not have this option available.

Alternative Fixes :-

If you want MSC go to Settings/Options then Systems where you will find USB orAuto detect.

The Sansa View, with firmware versions 01.01.06 and 01.02.09, does not
have the option to switch between MSC and MTP in the submenu. In order
to use the MSC mode, on the Sansa View, the following will need to be
done...

 1. Make sure the Sansa View is turned on.

2. Engage the hold switch, located on the left-hand side of the player.

3. Press and hold the LEFT BUTTON (<<)

4. Connect to the computer while pressing and holding the LEFT BUTTON ( << )

5. The Sansa View should now be connected in MSC mode and should appear as a "Removable Disk"

Asker's Rating:
• This solved my problem and got rid of the multiple songs so thank you very much for that! I also learned a thing or two about my Sansa E280 in the process.
