Both Daily Variety and The Hollywood Reporter are considered essential reading in the entertainment industry. If you are looking for industry news, you will be safe with either option, as they tend to both report the same news, though in different ways. Daily Variety is older and tends to be a bit more business-like in its reporting. It also feels a little more "industry," if that makes any sense. Hollywood Reporter does a little more fluff reporting and writes in a manner that is a bit more accessible. It really depends on what you are trying to get out of reading one or the other.
Since it sounds like you are contemplating a subscription to one or the other, I would recommend going to a newsstand and flipping through the current day's issues of each. Read a couple articles and see which style appeals more to you.

Which is worth getting and why: Variety magazine vs. The Hollywood Reporter. I can only get 1.
Please explain your reasoning.
I'm looking for a magazine about the movie/entertainment business. So far Variety Magazine and The Hollywood Reporter seem the like the best options.
Which do you recommend, and why?
(If it is easier for you, you can list the pros and cons of each)
