I strongly recommend going to the iMax in Universal City Walk. It's in an AMC, which is really nice. The iMax itself is anything you could possibly ask for. Although the seats could be better, the screen is HUGE (I saw the Dark Knight there, and some scenes were breathtaking) and the sound is incredible.
Universal City Walk is a really fun place just to walk around at. They've got lots of restaurants (such as the Hard Rock Cafe), stores, and even an indoor skydiving place! There's music blasting. Parking is $10, but if you go to the movie theatre they'll give you a $5 refund (make sure to ask).
For refreshments I always get the Nachos (they're not your standard movie nachos, they're really good!) The chips are Tostidos that are sealed to keep them fresh. And they have REAL cheese (that is warm and amazing!) Make sure to ask for jalapenos on the side too. Then I get a large ICEE, and I go to the movie theatre and enjoy!
