there are a lot of overrated films out there but I am going to go with Texas chainsaw massacre because it like too many horror films suffers from the choppy camera angles that often make no sense, you have people that just cant seem to get away in like in too many horror films. I understand movies are an escape from reality and I never bought into the whole character growth concept in 90 or so minutes but to have people that are clueless as what to when they are in danger is bit much.

The original or the remake or both? I didn't care for either.

both really. horror films often make no sense, people that just cant seem to get away from being chased... that sort of thing. bad shaky camera angles. I get the whold idea of movies as an escape and fun. and the star wars series with its bad science was pure escapism, even though the casting for some roles could have been different I/E luke and Anakin Skywalker. but horror and specifically the Texas Chainsaw Massacre suck not only do you have these totally ignorant people but the cinematography? do they expect me to believe this or just be grossed out.

Yeah, a lot of crappy horror movies do the shaky cam and you can't even see the monster or villain, cause they're always in the dark.

I think that Harry Potter is very over-rated, actually. It isn't as great as everyone says it is. Especially when you compare it to the books. And I am not a huge book fan. It is just that when they made the movies, they slaughtered the books, specifically 5 and 6.
And LOTR is definitely NOT over-rated. They are extremely well made, the follow the plot exceptionally well, and the acting is incredible. There are no immoral scenes to deal with, and there are no language problems either.

Well, language doesn't bother me, but stupid, mystical, escapism does.
TWILIGHT!!! I thought it was a decent movie but everyone is going nuts about it! The first one was filmed in Forks, Wa which is only a couple hours from me and now every body wants to visit there because it was filmed there! I just don't understand...
