I only rent kids movies. It's a nice treat for Sunday nights.

The Hollywood Video near me closed a year or two ago... 'lost their lease' allegedly...
The supergiantveryoldlegendary video place near me closed a year or so before that to become just a mail order place out of some warehouse somewhere...
The Blockbuster Video near me closed... a number of years before that....
There's one small (but chain) place still open near me... however, I haven't gone in there in ages and it keeps getting eaten by the store next door taking more space... I'd say the pr0n is keeping them in business, but with the internet and netflix-style pr0n rental-by-mail places, I don't know how they do it.
And I don't do netflix (yet)...
And I don't have cable...
And while the free library has a decent DVD collection... I think I might owe them some late fees from some books from a while ago... (WHOOPS! I'll pay them soon, I swear! Hmmm maybe with the millions I'm making in Mahalo Dollahs! :D )
So.. it's SORT-of like renting (at least the prices are about the same for in-store rentals..) but I tend to wait till Black Friday and then go out and buy a bunch of the movies that are on sale for like $2 or $3 (not those cheapie movies and tv show dvds, but like real hollywood production dvds with the extras and everything..) That way, I get the pleasure of being able to watch them again and again, or go through their extras, the commentaries, etc. at a leisurely pace, and potentially in the future, sell them and/or give them away.. all at the same cost of what rentals sometimes are.. I don't remember the list of what I got last BF (probably about 15 different DVDs).. but the two in front of me right now are... Spaceballs and A Beautiful Mind...
That being said... I've recently gotten 'addicted' to Hulu... and while I was watching TV shows for a while (I'm currently working through the absurd hilarity that is Lost in Space.. Oh the PAIN, the PAIN!) I suddenly noticed that they have full length movies too!
So, I paid for my 'rental' of Hulu movies by watching their commercials... and so the last movie I actually watched was... Somewhere in Time with Christopher Reeve and Jane Seymour, etc.. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Somewhere_in_Time_(film) However, it has since 'expired' off of Hulu. (Things expire off of Hulu, especially the movies apparently... who would have known?)

But, if you mean rented from a rental store, it's been a while. Once I rented two movies from a DC movie rental place: Alone in the Dark and TMNT 2. When I went back the next week to return the movies, the place was closed, shuttered, and the shelves were empty. Sadly, Alone in the Dark was not even worth watching once, let alone owning. I had a hard time just giving the damned thing away. I gave TMNT 2 to a fan of the series, so that was good. But I kept thinking that, had I known they were going under, what movies should I have rented instead?

an army buddy of mine and i rented it and then after it we had a nice discussion about the movie but more about the points the movie brings up: Post Traumatic Stress Syndrome, Suicide rates among vets, struggle of readjusting to civilian life, as well as the stop loss program its self (which we had found out is in the process of being shut down for Iraq).

We bought this movie. It's the only movie that my 3-year-old will sit down and watch. It's become a great babysitter.

lol - that was an entertaining answer.
I've sent you a tip in the hopes that your Mahalo Millions can at the very least, repay your debt to the local library.

And here I was thinking I was the only person who thought this movie was boring. I totally agree that while Anne's performance was award winning, the movie just stood still for way to long.

Does Netflix count? If so, I'm still watching Perfect Creature, an alternative world Vampire flick that is way better than I thought it would be. Just finished The Hand That Rocks the Cradle, which did the old-fashioned suspense building thing perfectly. But, if you mean rented from a rental store, it's been a while. Once I rented two movies from a DC movie rental place: Alone in the Dark and TMNT 2. When I went back the next week to return the movies, the place was closed, shuttered, and the shelves were empty. If Netflix counts, the last movie my family rented by their streaming service was Back to the Future 1, 2 and 3, because my kids who are 6, 8 and 13 had never seen it. The last one we had netflix deliver by mail, because they didn't have it available to stream, was Transformers.

The first and last scenes were a little scary. What's a good movie without a dash of scary though, right?
I'm really hoping that they break the hamster out into a Saturday morning cartoon. Bolt himself is likely a franchise, but I'd watch the hamster every week.
