Well, I was going to suggest Firefly, then Battlestar Galactica, but since those have been mentioned, I'll put in a plug for Eureka. It's not as crisp or gripping as either of those, but the characters are engaging and it's always fun. A light lighter than the others.

...or if you really mean a series of FILMS, and I can't believe any serious SF fan would not have seen them... the Star Wars films are pretty popular!
(... and I don't want to get into an argument about whether SW is really SF or not!)

The Doctor travels through both space and time for adventures around the universe, the recent revival is the best (2005) has great effects, score, storyline and is family friendly.

What are the best Sci-Fi Film Series for sci-fi fan who "has it all"?
Already owns the following series: Star Trek (all of them), Andromedia, Babylon 5, the Prisoner, Stargate, Stargate Atlantis. Searching for great sci-fi series only...no horror or psych thrillers...just good old fashioned sci-fi.
Oh, and I don't know anything about sci-fi so bear with me.

You can't go wrong with any of these answers, but you should also try Firefly. Great character development, not a lot of "hard" sci fi (e.g. technobabble), a good mix of drama and comedy. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hx9H0bairGA

Doctor Who from the BBC! (High marks for Firefly and Battlestar Galactica, tho) The Doctor travels through both space and time for adventures around the universe, the recent revival is the best (2005) has great effects, score, storyline and is family friendly.
