Just got a new Sony Blu-Ray player. What movie should I watch first?

I want to rent a movie that shows off the picture quality of my new device.

If you want movies that show off the Quality go with:
The 5th Element
Planet Earth
Sin City

For more newer movies:
Wall-e
Dark Knight
Iron man

All these movies look amazing in blu-ray. Planet Earth and Wall-e are my favorite. Most newer Sci-fi & Horror movie take full advantage of the HD. Dramas & Romance not so much unless you like look at the pores and wrinkles on someone face.

If that does not help try checking out this site which show the top rated blu-rays as whale as every title released so far.

Casino Royale. We watched that on Blu-Ray, and it was amazing. You could see more details, especially sweat, than you ever imagined.

Many professional reviewers have mentioned that the High Def version of The 5th Element is an excellent choice!

Planet Earth is very good as well. Blade Runner also...

By the way, you might want to upgrade the firmware in your Sony Blu-Ray. I've had a number of movies NOT work until the firmware was updated. You can get free firmware software at Sony.

Wall-E and the Dark Knight are two recent movies that just came out on Blue-Ray and would probably look amazing and help show off your new player.

Got my player last week and Dark Knight hasn't shipped yet, so I can't review it. I did see The Departed, and there was a scene where you could almost see the textures in some big value dollar bills. The Omen 666, Casino and the restored A Clockwork Orange looked really nice.

Some just look horrible, American Psycho doesn't even have anti aliased closed captioning, it looks like crap when compared with the closed captioning in Casino and The Departed.
