I love the movies Ed Wood and Edward Scissorhands.
In Ed Wood, Johnny Depp plays Edward Wood who is claimed to be the worst movie director ever. It's a really funny movie directed by Tim Burton. Bill Murray is also in the cast. Great actor!
Who hasn't seen Edward Scissor Hands? That movie is a masterpiece. Depp's character is so mysterious and inquisitive. It keeps you trapped in the story line from beginning to end. This movie is also directed by Tim Burton.

Great answer, especially since Ambien kept you from remembering giving it!

My all time favorite was Finding Neverland. It stars Depp and Kate Winslet. He plays J.M. Barrie who one day meets Winslet and her four sons. Barrie watches as the boys play and starts to incorporate some of their games and storytelling into a play, called Peter Pan.
It's an awesome movie and by no means, just for children.

I am still torn between Don Juan DeMarco (1994) and Ed Wood (also in 1994).
Both movies had great writing and Johnny had some great actors to compliment his own skills in these films.
It's hard to answer your question on this. He has done a butt-load of great films!

Without a doubt for me Jonny Depp's best movie so far has been any of the 3 Pirates of the Caribbean movies. Of course in those movies there are other great actors such as Orlando Bloom and Keira Knightley. Jonny Depp helped create the role of Captain Jack Sparrow which I think is why he portrays the zany and crazy character of Jack Sparrow so well making for a great movie and a stunning role :)

I'm not that big of a Johnny Depp fan, but I loved the first POTC.
Pirates of The Carribean: Curse of The Black Pearl.
This By Far Is Johnny Depp's Best Movie.

Not sure, but I must say that Johnny Depp has proven himself to be the best, most versatile actor I have ever seen. And to think I just thought he was another pretty face on 21 Jump Street. Wow! Did I have a crush on him back then! Whew!

He's been so good in so many movies... He has been great as Jack Sparrow in the Pirates of the Caribbean series.

I think that Depp is known well for the Pirates of the Caribbean series (and it's very good at that), but I think that Public Enemies might be the best movie he's done so far. One of the reasons for this is because it's not often you see Johnny Depp in a realistic or serious role, and I have very high hopes for this movie. So while I've yet to see it, I can imagine that it may be his best movie so far!

I think the Pirates of the Caribbean is his best work so far. He is an excellent actor, and he is young, so his career is just getting started. I look for him in more serious roles as his career unfolds. He has the ability to assume the "good guy" or the serious bad guy in his acting style. Captain Jack Sparrow was certainly a comic character and one that allowed Johnny Depp to play around with being silly and foolish. The depth of the character was expanded in the series due to Johnny Depp's acting abilities.

I love that era, so I'm hoping this will be his best movie to date. I think he did an amazing job in "What's Eating Gilbert Grape?" and "Sweeney Todd". He has the ability to transition from one character to another without much flaw.

I really enjoyed Chocolat. Depp is a great actor, but I enjoy his character more when he is playing a supportive role.

Already 19 years since release, it is easy to forget how great Edward Scissorhands was in the capable hands of Johnny Depp, which is why many see it as Depp's greatest role so far. The late Gene Siskel and Roger Ebert aside, Edward Scissorhands established Depp as a movie star as opposed to a teen idol. In a role that neither Tom Cruise nor Tom Hanks got, Depp made the damaged alien with the metallic hands into someone to engender empathy and, ultimately, love.
Can Depp eclipse himself in Public Enermies? Yes, and don't you hope so?! With certainty. In fact, Depp succeeds in archetypal roles that have been tried by other actors because he always freshens the archetype.
