Movie referenced in Guys and Dolls?
In the song Guys and Dolls from the show Guys and Dolls, there's a line:
What's playing at the Roxy?
I'll tell you what's playing at the Roxy.
A picture about a Minnesota man so in love with a Mississippi girl that he sacrifices everything and moves all the way to Biloxi.
That's what's playing at the Roxy.
What movie is this referring to? (No Best Answer for saying it isn't mentioning a specific film)
Extra dollar in tip to be offered if you also find what news story that song referenced with
What's in the daily news?
I'll tell you what's in the daily news.
Story about a man bought his wife a small ruby with what otherwise would have been his union dues.
That's what's in the daily news.

The movie referenced in Guys and Dolls specifically referring to "Minnesota man so in love with a Mississippi girl that he sacrifices everything and moves all the way to Biloxi", is the film Biloxi Blues, starring Matthew Broderick and directed by Mike Nichols.

Looked good, until I saw that Biloxi Blues wasn't released until 1988. Guys and Dolls premiered in 1950.
The source you saw, http://www.thenewpolitics.com/2005/08/whats_playing_a.html was simply discussing pronunciation of Biloxi.
As for the "Daily News" reference, I know that the New York Daily News is a newspaper. What you said doesn't actually make much sense to me... Was that a specific article in that paper?
