Actually, that's probably a conundrum. I'm sure inventors are inspired by the desire for an easier or better solution to something, but likewise work long and tirelessly to achieve that desired result.
Many of them endure ridicule and scorn in pursuit of their dreams. And some are forever immortalized in a way they (and their families) wish never happened. Case in point, John Crapper (Go to the "John," Use the "crapper," and I'll let you recall the other slogans you've heard).
"Necessity is the mother of invention." Necessity could be wanting to determine if a race horse is flying (ergo inventing the moving picture show) or it could be the need to cure hearing loss. Either way inventors are not lazy once they begin their quest.
I will go with "false" in answer to your question.
