What's the most boring movie you've ever seen?

Vanilla Sky, The English Patient, Peter Jackson's King Kong .... We all think we've seen the most boring movie of all time - so what's your pick? Where were you when you watched the film, and what conversations or actions did it inspire after its viewing? Tell the world which movie we should avoid, and what made it so awful!

I have all of you beat!

Thee absolute most boring film ever created was made by Andy Warhol in 1963, titled Sleep.
It was supposed to be an eight hour long movie, but for some reason was edited down to 4 hours and 45 minutes.
Aww.

It stars John Giorno and you guessed it... he's sleeping!

I went to see this film back in my twenties at an art house and thought it would be something to add to my 'cool list' of things I've done. Too bad I only lasted about 45 minutes.

Talk about a movie that makes you sleepy! See for yourself...

I realize that I am in the minority here with this one, but the most boring movie that I have ever seen was District 9. There are so many people that love this movie and praise it for being the "most intelligent science fiction film of all time," but I very much disagree. I also think comparing District 9 to Avatar is a joke, since to me, there is hardly any comparison. While I like some of the special effects of this film (the aliens look very cool), I think the story line was way too slow for me. I expected a lot more action out of this one, and instead I fell asleep--twice!

While I don't necessarily feel that the story line itself was bad, I think that there could have been much more to it. The moments of silence in this film were not suspense-building, but rather sleep-inducing. I know that there are so many other people that disagree with me about District 9, but this one just didn't do it for me. District 9 came highly recommended by others, and it still has a very high rating among reviewers, but frankly, I am not seeing the reasons why.

I'm with you with this one. Although it's not most boring movie ever, it's definitely incomparable with Avatar. Its documentary-shaky-camera style is the biggest turn off for me and the slow-paced, action-lacks scenario have made me put this movie in the list of the worst movie for last year. I feel kinda weird for hating one of the highest rated movie of 2009, but I just can't find this movie to be that great.

One of the most boring films of recent times is also one of my favorites. This is not a contradiction. Even a long fishing trip out at sea can be boring at times despite its redeeming moments. The movie I am referring to is Gus Van Sant's, Gerry. It is about two young men who get lost in the desert. There is sparse dialogue in the film. Most of the movie consists of the two main characters simply walking across the desert as the camera rolls upon desolate scenery. The movie however almost by virtue of its sheer drudgery and repetition somehow achieves something mystical. Be warned, I saw this movie three times and EACH time I saw it people left the theatre,. Many people demanded a refund.

I am not the only one who feels that this movie is profoundly boring. It gets the number one spot on this top ten list of the most boring movies.

http://listverse.com/2008/01/10/top-10-most-boring-movies/

So in conclusion I recommend this movie but be prepared to be bored as hell.

I must agree with you on this one. I love it for its simplicity.

I can also understand the majority of people who demand to be entertained with fast moving action heros, would rather slit their wrists than sit through this.

You didn't find it at all boring? I agree that art isn't always about being entertained.

The most boring movie I have ever seen was "War of the Worlds" with Tom Cruise. I swear they thought lets make this movie as loud as possible to keep everyone awake through this waste of film. I actually left the movie theater thinking well that is 2 hours of my life i will never get back and oh great now i have a killer headache to boot.

My friends and I left the movies feeling like we were just robbed by Tom Cruise LOL. If you would like a lobotomy and dont want to be stuck with that ugly scar go watch this movie.

Easiest question I've ever answered here. Manos: Hands of Fate. So unfunny, bad, and boring not even MST3k could find anything to riff on it for.

I actually saw a glimmer of hope in 'Manos'. I bet you and I would have a blast watching that one together!

(of course we'd have to be extremely drunk and/or stoned, mind you...)

There is no hope in Manos. Movie even has useless scenes of teenagers making out which have to revalance to the "plot".

I'll take the drunk challenge with ya...

The movie that was without question simultaneously both the worst AND most boring movie I've ever seen was "Nothing but Trouble". The 1991 dud had Chevy Chase, Dan Aykroid, Demi More and John Candy all relatively close to their primes, but the only nominations it got was for 6 Razzies (bad acting and bad directing in abundance). The movie is so confusing and so NOT funny - I'm not sure that there is much worse than a movie with a top tier comedy lineup that doesn't deliver ANY comedy.

The Good Shepherd was TERRIBLE. WE left in the middle of it.
All the Star power in it, you'd think it would be greatness, but NOTHING HAPPENED. It was so freakin slow... Ugh. What a beat down.

It seems like its that way with a lot of movies with big all-star casts. Oceans 11 was a notable exception.

The most boring movie I have ever seen would have to be "Roots". I know, how can I say it was boring? It has a very good story line and should be seen by everyone to show how it was in the old south, BUT it moves through the story way to slowly. It could easily be knocked down in time by a couple of hours or more.

The movie came out when I was a kid, but I didn't see it until just a couple years ago, when I bought it on DVD. I sat watching it wondering if it was ever going to end, but I am one of those people that even though I may not like a movie I must see the ending, so I continued to watch switching the DVD's when needed.

In conclusion it is a good movie, and like I said should be seen by everyone, but I did find it to be too long and boring.

Torque. Not only is it the most boring movie ever, but also the WORST movie ever. I don't even remember it any more it was that bad. Except that they'd ride bikes at like 90 mph and STILL have their hoods up. Gar, so LAME!

And guess what, it's SO bad, I can't even find a clip of it on Youtube to show it's badness. Epic.

That's not fair! I was taken to this movie when I was a little kid. It was winter and movie theater was warm and cozy. My Mom told me I was asleep in 5 minutes.

Of course I watched this movie when I was older and I am still amazed at the special effects for that time. This movie is a masterpiece!

Five Easy Pieces starring Jack Nicholson. The tag line for this movie is:

"He Rode The Fast Lane On The Road To Nowhere."

Really it sums this movie up, you feel like you are on a boring road to nowhere when watching this movie.

This movie didn't stir up any conversation, and the only action it caused was an early bedtime. I was confident it was going to be a great choice because I am a big fan of Mr. Nicholson, but I quickly realized not all of his movies are up to par.

I gave it a fighting chance, even continued to watch it after my girlfriend had given up and gone to bed. After about an hour of suffering I turned it off and went to bed. This is one of about five movies that I have intentionally ended myself before the story was finished, usually it bothers me when I only see part of a movie, but for this I was glad it was over.
