"More preachers work for Satan than work for God." Do you agree?

I believe all of those preachers of Satan are actually working for God. I believe they are on their own path to Him. I believe there are no preachers except those of God.
These ideas and this faith give me peace and serenity. A comfort like no other.

*"Jimmy Swaggart Ministries is a family business, with 17 relatives on the payroll. Jimmy is paid $86,000 annually. Frances and Donnie reportedly receive more than $50,000 each. In 1985 the Swaggarts borrowed $2 million from the ministry to build three luxurious homes in a wealthy Baton Rouge subdivision. They have use of a $250,000 ministry "retreat" in California and say that such luxury items as twin Lincoln Town Cars and handsomely furnished offices come from donors. "
As I don't believe in Satan or God in the biblical manner I have to disagree with the statement above. If I follow the intent of the quote I have to say I firmly believe many preachers work for power and money rather than love of God & Jimmy Swaggart could be one of the worst.
Just for the record I used to be Christian so I am not a totally outside observer.

M$I have no doubt myself that most televangelists are in it for the money. Perhaps I shouldn't have mentioned names, which isn't really pertinent to the motive behind my question. Thanks for sharing your thoughts.
Ahhh yes it does add to the flavor of the question. Without Mr Swaggart attached the root of the answer remains the same.

M$I find it fantastically ironic for the reasons below.
In the 1980s a Christain Musician called Steve Taylor wrote a song called "Guilty by association" and included it in his album Meltdown. The song contained the following lyrics.

----quote---
Turn the radio on to a down-home drawl
hear a brylcream prophet with a message for y'all
(preacher)
"I have found a new utensil in the devil's toolbox
and the heads are gonna roll if Jesus rocks
it's a worldly design! God's music should be divine!
try buying records like mine--avoid temptation"
Guilty by Association!
(Taylor)
So you say it's of the devil and we've got no choice
because you heard a revelation from the "still small voice?"
if the Bible doesn't back it then it seems quite clear
perhaps it was the devil who whispered in your ear!
---quote---
Swaggart was furious and threatened legal action, which never materialised. However he did include a whole chapter on Steve Taylor in his book Religious Rock 'N' Roll, a Wolf in Sheep's Clothing (ISBN 0-935113-05-3). Where he attacked him on musical grounds, and for criticising people in leadership positions.
A recurring theme in Taylors music was attacking people who " but preach to what their congregation wants to hear or pervert the Word and give it their own meaning". Especially if that meaning was for financial gain or to manipulate people
I have yet to hear of Jimmy offering a public apology to Steve. I won't hold my breath.

M$People still listen to Jimmy Swaggart? Hmm...
I'm not surprised he said it but as with any teachings of the Bible if you can't find the scripture supporting what is being taught actually in the Bible (not just in the sermon) the preacher is way off to begin with.
Like not sitting in judgement of others. I can see his point but his own teachings don't follow scripture either so he's kind of nailed his own spiritual foot to the floor and talking in circles.
Again.
When It comes to my experience.. I've certainly seen pastors who seem to be out there for the 'Ego Trip'... and its not a healthy place to be.
And I can see exactly why it can happen
----quote----
So the crowds grew, and their praise did too
And a mailing list sent you money
So they love Jerry Lewis in France
Does that make him funny?
Small talk breeds where kingdoms come crashing
Rumor conquers where it wills
No one hears you, go ahead and cash in
If you don't die to yourself pride kills
----quote----
If God isn't at the centre of what you're doing then someone else is.
Thats not to say that God can't use you despite of yourself... but thats not what God or any of us should want. After all God used King Herod and the Philistines and things didn't work out too well for them!
Fascinating; I was not aware of this controversy. I don't watch Swaggart as a regular habit; I tend to leave the TV on the Christian channels for background noise and listen part-time if something catches my attention. But yes, it was Jimmy Swaggart who said this and these were his exact words.
An interesting point of view, thanks for responding.
