The Washington DC Quarter is part of a series of the US Mint's new quarters program for 2009 ("The 2009 District of Columbia and US Territories Quarters Program"), which will release an additional six quarters that will feature the following US territories and DC: Washington DC, Puerto Rico, Guam, American Samoa, US Virgin Islands, and the Northern Mariana Islands.
