I'm on AssociatedContent.com, Helium.com, Ehow.com, Bukisa.com and Textbroker.com...and now Mahalo as far as page management. :)

I use the same pen name for everything Unwirklich Vin Zant. That is important. I'll get to that in a minute.

I did have a brief spurt at ConstantContent.com as well but the editor and I had a difference of opinion. :) I hear that is not uncommon with the site.

In terms of user friendliness, this isn't just because I'm answering this here, but Mahalo is the best I've ever seen. The members and staff are very helpful and responsive. Second would be AC (associatedcontent) there staff is extremely bad at communication, however the other members in the forum balance this by being extremely helpful. The layout and publishing process is also the easiest to navigate in my opinion.

It's hard to say which I earn the most from. I have developed an interconnected system for one thing, for two it depends how much I write and where each month.

I tend to first put articles up on AC for non-exclusive upfront ($3-7) and then I take them to helium or ehow depending on the nature of the article. Helium gives another ($.50-2.00) upfront. Ehow offers a payment system similar to here you get a portion of the pages google revenue. I am steering away from ehow as they keep getting articles trapped forever in review and the staff has been unresponsive on the subject. Both AC and Helium then pay page view payments.

This method obtains around 3.50 to 9.00 an article intially plus page views forever. Some of my articles have gained upwards of 100 dollars in page views.

The second option I use is to participate in Helium contests. I get the upfront mentioned, plus I normally place which is another 30-60 dollars. If I'm participating in contests Helium outshines AC earning wise, otherwise AC rocks them. I take my contest articles and publish what I don't think will do amazing in pageviews at Bukisa, and the ones I do think will do well at AC display only. This is because AC takes page view average into account for upfronts.

I only write for textbroker when I'm bored. Assignments are fast and easy, it's a good time killer.

I've added in Mahalo by picking pages that relate to other articles I've written and the sourcing those in my pages, or by using articles as sources in questions I answer here.

Last month Mahalo made me more than any of the other sites individually.

The reason its important to keep the same pen name for all sites is otherwise you will get accused of plagiarism. It also adds to your fan base.

So very long answer short the best way to earn with online writing is to interconnect site usage to maximize earnings this way you'll likely earn about the same from all the sites. I do.

ehow, which I did enjoy writing for until recently their guidelines are becoming more difficult everyday.
AC which I do not enjoy writing for but many people claim to have good luck with. Money is based mostly on views. You can make money up front though.
Infobarrel, in comparsion to how many articles I have there with how many I have at other sites, the earnings are a lot more. I don't get as many add clicks or view but when I do, it's really something to write home about. You get 75% of adsense and sometimes more.
Bukisa, I don't like the set up, but some people do. I think it's all based on views.
examiner which is based on views, very good earning potential if you get a hot topic, horrible if you get a crappy town or topic. I don't like writing about the same old topic all the time either. Have had some publishing issues in the past but I think they have worked on it. The application process is kinda extensive.

Overall I've made the most with ehow, but in comparsion to number of articles and earnings, I make more at Infobarrel.

Some more info on infobarrel: It takes a bit to learn the publishing process but once you learn it... It's much better and sooo much more freedom with writing. You can do how tos, information, opinion pieces and reviews. You can write about anything, as long as it's not hate speech or vulgar. You can not have the work published some where else but you retain rights to your work. You can sign up here if you want to give it a try. http://www.infobarrel.com/signup.php?ref_id=855

I am a full time journalist but also write for many online "content" sites for extra money.

I write on eHow and Helium because the residuals are great when I don't have time to write consistently. I have about 100 articles on each site and now add maybe 1-2 a month to keep it growing. I earn over $150 a month with each just from older articles that are still being viewed. If I went back and started writing an article a day, I'd be making more, but I'm happy with the stead sum of money as I don't have time to write for them daily.

I also write three columns on Examiner.com. They pay approximately $9 per 1000 page views. I'm very active on Twitter and have a large following there, so I do get to promote my articles there and the readers spread the word. I make about $400 a month now that I'm not writing as often on Examiner. Plus, I recruit writers to come and write for Examiner.com and if they are approved, I receive $50 in that month's pay. I've recruited over 15 people in the last two months.

Helium gives you topics to write about. You can also enter a new topic and wait for approval.

eHow allows

You need to love writing before you write for online content sites. It's hard work. Be patient, too. You won't make millions over night.
