The Marriott Corporation ran between 1927 and 1993 until it split into two entities, one being Mariott Hotels. Marriott International formed in 1997, this is what currently holds the symbol MAR on the NYSE. Turns out Marriott didn't even become a public company in 1998, which is when it first appeared on the Stock Market. So there was no Marriott stock symbol in 1975. --Quote--
Marriott Internat Inc A was organized as a corporation in Delaware in 1997 and became a public Company in 1998. The Company is a worldwide operator and franchisor of hotels and related lodging facilities.
