A great team member passes the ball off to other team members if they do not know the answer or how to proceed. A great team member realizes that not everything can be put into his own hands, and that there are others who are better suited to complete a task. A great team member will help out another when they are down, and not leave them stranded.A great team member does not care about who gets credit, or who gets paid, or how much they make, yet focuses on completing the project at all costs because they believe in the project. I great team member believes in something wholeheartedly, or drinks the project or what some would call, "drinking the kool-aid" to the point that they would take one for the team. When I say, "take one for the team," it essentially means that they would put themselves in pain so that the team succeeds. A great team member really makes thing happen in their area of expertise. I would say I am a great team member, yet every great team member needs a great team to succeed with a project, as there is no "I" in team. It's interesting to think about, but if everyone thinks about themselves on the team, and not about the completing the objectives of the project, then you are not thinking with a team mentality.

This is a great question. For me being a team player means working well with others. Jumping in and helping someone if they need it, even if your work is done. Someone who doesn't need to be in charge but can take leadership if need be. Remember there is no I in team work!

A great team member is someone who can help out with the team work, shares responsibility, does not wait for others to do all the work, trustworthy, respects others who they are working with. This is a person who can work well with others and shows that they are not lazy and they are willing to put in the effort and do the work.

A good team member has to display an assertive, "get the job done" attitude.  They have to be strict, but fair and willing to compromise.  The best team members I have ever worked with left their egos at the door and worked as a whole to get the job done.
