I would say neither, and go with the Amazon gift card. At least you know where to go shopping.
I would choose MasterCard, just because there have been quite a few places that I've been that don't except Visa but do accept MasterCard. Otherwise they are both very similar.
The fee for not using it is only $2.50 for the MC, while the Visa charge is $3.50.

The rates you will receive are all subject your spending behaviour, otherwise Visa as a company is in a better position over Mastercard
