Is consumer lending profitable?

Is consumer lending Maxed Out?  Are applicants financial situations poor and probable they will not repay the loans

Interesting question. Generally speaking consumer lending is profitable simply because interest is charged on consumer loans. Given today's tight financial situations, I would say that it can still be profitable if the right precautions are taken.

Consumer lending or for matter that every lending is profitable, to answer your main question.

About the situation right now, yes they are also in a bad shape. All lending are in a bad shape unfortunately.

What is the default rate for consumer lending? Is the rate increasing? If so how can consumer lending be profitable?
