How do I determine to file part-year resident or non-resident for Hawaii?

I have been traveling for 3 years using CA as my tax home however I have license/car registration in AZ. Last July I moved I moved to Hawaii for a 10 month contract. I receive tax-free reimbursements for food and housing but the contract is different than my normal 13 week travel contracts. My normal companies usually withhold money for CA even though I am working in other states because of my travel status and this company did not. If I file non-resident I have to pay taxes here and CA but if I file part-year I only pay taxes to HI. I want to make sure that I file correctly given the tax free money I have received. I called both states and neither could give me a clear answer. I am also not sure what state I will be going to after this.

Your company would be able to help you out with this, I'm sure they've had people who have done what you're doing. Your best bet would be to ask the HR person there.
