No, they are entirely different monetary risk system. While the long term capital gains of stocks MAY equal bonds (if they perform relatively poorly), they are far riskier in general. They may pay big, but they may pay less, or even cause a loss of invested value.

Bonds, on the other hand, are guaranteed by governments, but they pay a much lower rate of return.
