.MOD to .MPG - No Audio?

Hi, we have a Panasonic SDR-H40P tapeless camcorder, and we used the software that came with the camcorder. If we played it in the software, it would have audio, but if we played it in Windows Explorer using Windows Media Player, it wouldn't have any audio. I heard it may be a codec issue, if so, can anyone point me to a suitable codec? If not, what can I do?

Thanks!

EDIT: Never mind, I found I could play and hear the file in Pinnacle Studio 10, which was going to be our final destination anyways. Thanks for the help!

Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

Try doing the conversion at this site:

www.media-convert.com

Nothing to install, just choose the file, tell it what format to convert to, upload it, let it work, and download the resulting file.

Alternatively, if you want to simply know if you have the necessary codec on your computer for whatever the provided software turns it into, download a program called GSpot (link is in my source) and feed it the video file. Assuming it's only the sound that doesn't work, simply google the audio codec listed, download it, and the issue should be resolved.

Hope this helps.

That doesn't work - it gives:

Error -2048: Couldn't open the file <File which won't open>.mpg because it is not a file that QuickTime understands.
