Asus makes good gaming laptops.
Your best bet is to custom order one with lots of RAM, a graphics card with lots of dedicated memory (512mb-1gb usually), and a good processor.
Good laptops for gaming generally have the same requirements as a Desktop for the best gaming performance.
Dell XPS laptops are also good for gaming usually. I like High end HP's (I have 2 HP computers, one desktop with about 3 gigs of RAM, and a 500gb hard drive with Nvidia drivers and AMD x2 core processors, and an HP laptop with 4gb RAM, 320gb hard drive, ATi Radeon drivers and AMD x2 core processors)
You are gonna want a laptop to come with the necessary hardware for smooth, fast gaming. Unlike Desktops, which can easily have their old graphics/video card or power supply swapped out for a better one, laptops require much more to upgrade to a better one. Some of them allow for this, but generally, you have to swap out the whole entire Motherboard to do so, which sometimes takes just as much money as another computer, so you might as well buy a new one.
Just look for High RAM (probably around 3-4gb, which are common now more is desired if it's a 64bit op system). A Graphics card with high dedicated memory and other statistics, (I'd shoot for one with 1gb for great performace) and atleast a duo core processor. I prefer Graphics by ATi Radeon, but a NVidia card is equally comparable. And I really prefer a x2 core by AMD, but you'll do fine with an Intel Duo.
I can elaborate more if give me a price range, and give you more specific models and such.

I know desktops are the way to go for online gaming, but I need something for when I'm on the go. Any suggestions for a good gaming laptop?
