M$1 Answer
A no holds barred fight (a fight with the rules) more closely resembles a mixed martial arts fight, therefore a mixed martial artist would have the advantage.
Mike Tyson in his prime would stand little chance against Shane Carwin, because Shane is a national champion wrestler so he would take it to the ground where Mike Tyson would be completely out of his element. Therefore the advantage goes to Shane Carwin. The only chance that Mike Tyson could win a street fight with Shane, would be to catch him coming in for the takedown or bring a weapon to the fight.
This is a simple case of which sport does a street fight more closely resemble, the answer is mixed martial arts. In the boxing ring most MMA fighters would have a clear disadvantage, just as pure boxers in MMA. I am a fan of both sports in realize the differences between the two. It is like comparing basketball and football, both are contact sports and have similarities but the two are vastly different.
