I am a girl, so this is an opinion from a female standpoint.
I think Gina Carano is absolutely gorgeous, and the fact that on top of that she can also kick your ass is something that makes her worthy of being a role-model. I'm not prude, and hardly old fashioned, but I don't find ANYTHING empowering about posing in Playboy.
The "readers" (I think "viewers" is a more appropriate term) of Playboy won't see those pictures and acknowledge her as a strong, talented woman. They will only see an object, and I think all women (not just Gina) deserve to be seen as more than that.
There is a fine line between female empowerment and exploitation, but every day it becomes more blurred by society and the media. I think Gina should retain her dignity and keep it classy (which Playboy no longer is).

Personally, I like to see strong, fit women, and she is definitely that. So, as far as I'm concerned, I wouldn't mind if she decides to pose (nude or scarcely clothed).

In any case, I believe any woman who has been invited to pose for Playboy should and here's why. If you think about it, a sexually independent man is called names that are considered good or positive, such as "stud" or "casanova." The names society gives to sexually independent women are negative names, such as "slut" or "tramp" or "whore." This kind of double standard has no place in modern society. Women are now just as able to be sexually open as men have been for thousands of years without all the stigma attached and I believe more women should take advantage of that opportunity and pave the way for true gender equality!
So, YES! She absolutely should pose for Playboy.

I don't think there is any down side, as the sort of person who might object isn't likely to be watching her athletic contests anyway.

considering those who dont appear nude and also going through the fact that she is a martial arts star, the magazine could make her achieve great in her career.

Should Gina Carano pose for ''Playboy''?
With so many celebrities appearing in ''Playboy'' magazine lately, including those who do not appear nude, would it be wise for mixed martial arts star Gina Carano to appear in the magazine?

There is no honor to be earned by posing for Playboy. That magazine has lost its glory a long time ago. So, it will not help to promote her. Personally, I like to see strong, fit women, and she is definitely that. So, as far as I'm concerned, I wouldn't mind if she decides to pose (nude or scarcely clothed).

Posing for Playboy has been the ultimate celebrity rebellion tactic in the past; young female celebrities baring all in an attempt to show they bad girl side. These days it isn't so rebellious, but more commonplace and subsequently has lost it's rebellious undertones. In any case, I believe any woman who has been invited to pose for Playboy should and here's why. Yes, she would get paid, get good publicity, and have some excellent photo's as souvenir for her later age. Playboy photographers are top professionals in their field, as are the makeup artists. I don't think there is any down side, as the sort of person who might object isn't likely to be watching her athletic contests anyway.

most playboy celebrities are either from the porn industry or tend to enter it soon after reaching "playboy" status. considering those who dont appear nude and also going through the fact that she is a martial arts star, the magazine could make her achieve great in her career.

I don't think so, although I'd like to see it. With the rise of the Internet, Playboy has been pretty much irrelevant for years. Its circulation is a small fraction of what it was, and I don't think they money would be there anymore to make it worthwhile for her.

It should be entirely up to her. I think Playboy is seen as mainstream and therefore she certainly would not devalue herself in anyway. And she could get some good exposure for her and for her sport. The only negative I can see is those people who will see it as a sign that female fighers are "eye candy" and really nothing more than a novelty act. With as much time and effort as they put into their sport they deserve to be treated as well as their male counterparts. Either way she should make this decision on her own and let anyone coerce her into doing it or let any feminist coerce into not doing it.
