Microformats vs RDFa is there a clear winner or will they eventually combine forces? Is there a Dark Side?

Regarding Microformats vs. RDFa. Google and Yahoo are now supporting both. Microformats are in wide use. I believe applications being developed today will continue to support both, but will need to grow way beyond microformats to support the full vision of machine readable, linked data that spans knowledge domains. Domain specific data models will evolve within the standards bodies for each industry.
