Well I'm a full time legal assistant so my answer may not help. I do still end up writing when I get home for at least 4 hours a day, 5 days a week.
I also write on weekends but I try not to spend the entire weekend working. When I find something to do with my daughter, I write late at night on the weekend.
So I'd say I write about 25-30 hours a day. Not bad for a part time job that I don't have to pay daycare for and can do at home.

How many days a week do you write?
How many days a week do you find yourself writing if your only income is from your writing? Me I average 6-7 days a week for a few hours.
If its a short week I write 10-12 hours a day for 3-4 days. By short week I mean my other job of watching my grand kids.

During the summer when I was finishing up my novel I tried to put in 2 or 3 hours a day, everyday. Now that my son and I have started homeschool I'm lucky to get 1 hour a week in. He has youth league bowling on Thursdays which his father takes him to, sometimes I stay home and write. I need to try to put in more time on weekends but it seems like we always have plans.

I write for two masters: one that requires me to write and the other that allows me to write. I am a doctoral student and writing is a necessity. For this master, I often don't get the luxury of choosing a topic or a schedule. I am also a freelancer, and I structure my writing to meet my work and school schedule. If I am all caught up with schoolwork, then my muse takes over and I write what pleases me. Most weeks, I end up freelance writing maybe only about 5-10 hours per week. I am looking forward to finishing school so that I have more time for what I want to write!
