What would you do to get your life back on track after suffering several setbacks and battling a life threatening illness?
I face this type of hurdle often with clients who have suffered so much and whose life has been thrown off course. What would you do or what have you done to take control back of your life and get back on track.

I, after almost a year of a horrible downward spiral, some how came up with the idea to go back to school. This is what helped me redefine my new life and bring back much needed self-esteem and added several valuable measures to my life both personally and in the real world as well. I'm currently still in school and have completely revamped my life and sent everything in a fantastic new and enlightening direction. From starting a business to buying a home everything has changed and it all started when I made that decision.
I don't know if this sort complete life re-branding and new direction method will work for everyone but it sure worked for me. I have not looked back since. :)

I would write a tell all book. I would take every simple detail of the darkness corners of my life and put it all on paper. The raw emotions of set backs in life and especially life threatening illness and one that over comes all of that is really good inspiration for others. Not to mention that you would make Oprah's top book lists, and be rich and able to live the life that all well most people want. Take your time and think about what things are good and that made you smile during the times it was hardest and it would make the good times you are having now even more worth it and memorable Hope it Helped
Good Luck

I can't say that my dystonia is life threatening, but it and the alcohol that I began drinking to cope with it, cause me a lot of problems with my health, my family and especially my emotional well being. The main thing that helped me get my life back on track was finding out what the problem was. A psychiatrist first noticed me turning my head to the side. He thought that it was a psychological symptom. At least he noticed it. I went years without most doctors that I saw, admitting that I had a problem. One doctor at least admitted that I had a problem, and he was honest enough to admit that he did not know what it was. Another doctor was conscientious enough to write down a list of my symptoms. Most of the doctors claimed that I had an alcohol problem. DUH! Of course I had an alcohol problem. I need relief for the pain.
I finally met a neurologist who knew what the problem was. That in itself was enough to restore my self confidence. I started taking Botox injections around my eyes and went cold turkey off the alcohol (I used marijuana to help stay off the booze.) I have not had a drink in a decade now.
I would tell other people who are having what they feel is a physical problem, not to let the doctors tell you otherwise. Believe in yourself.
I would tell people who are struggling to overcome setbacks, to be sure and take it one day at a time. You never know. You could be killed in a car accident long before your disease claims you, so try and create some joy in your life every day.

Good advice. I'm glad they finally diagnosed you correctly. That is the worst not knowing what is going on and no one having any answers. Congrats on your sobriety!

I moved to a cheaper, better place. I'm fixing the way I eat. I'm looking for a job. I'm taking care of myself. I'm planning to go back to college next year. And I guess my motivators for all of this, were jealousy and envy. Haha.
