Why are over-the-counter products with Pseudoephedrine (e.g., Sudafed) held behind the counter in pharmacies?
I've seen the new formulation, Sudafed PE, held behind the counter as well.

All the ingredients are easily available or common. The easiest way to control the production of methamphetamine is to limit the purchase of psuedoephedrine because it comes from the pharmacy where pharmacists are already used to tracking controlled drugs.

because the brillian Legeslatures thought that would curb the production of drugs. While I'm not a drug dealer or manufacturer, Pseudoephedrine contains an ingredient that was readily available to anyone buying them over the counter, and then using that ingredient to make Meth. So legeslatures made laws to track who purchased how much and how often, thinking this would curb the manufacturing of drugs (NOT).

I don't even mind going to the counter to get this stuff. If it keeps meth off the street, then I'm all in. That stuff is terrible.
