Absolutely! and I can speak from experience!

I never had acne as a teenager, however when I was 25, i developed alot
of acne on my chin and side of my nose. I was devastated because I just began dating a very attractive guy and I was embarrassed! I began to frantically pick at them hoping they would heal, but I ended up with some deep craters, (commonly refered to as "pock marks" which are deep chunks of skin that cause a hole. I thought it was scarred forever!
I went to a dermatologist and was precribed Accutane 20 mg. (they also come in 40 mg, but I wouldn't suggest it, start with 20 mg first) reason being is because this medication literally dries you out and peels layers of skin off (quickly, within a few days) until it reaches a fresh layer of skin, where essentially, it shed so many layers until the scar is gone. Be prepared in advance with plenty of chapstick because the skin on your lips will get so dry and crusty you won't believe it!

Also, if you are female DO NOT become pergnant on this medication is will result in severe birth defects, if the baby even makes it to birth. No dermatologist will prescribe this medication until they receive a confirmed negative pregnancy test result, and then it is important that you be on some form of birth control for the duration of treatment if you are sexually active,
if not, then don't worry about it.

Duration of treatment is anywhere from 3-6 months, and longer for more severe cases.

You will see reults, (as far as healing of scars goes) within the first 30 days.

I highly recommend this medication for the healing of scars caused by acne,
it TRULY works!

The only one that I'm familiar with... Dermabrasion. That's right. Pretty much sanding your face.

I had it done when I was 15/16 years old. It was the best cosmetic surgery I could have done for myself. Well, actually, my mom paid for it, but it was well worth it.

I've been through most of the other treatments. Pills, injections, lots of sulfur paste, more injections. Finally, Acutane was what helped the most (I was in the initial clinical trials.) None of it helped the scarring, just the Dermabrasion.

Not exactly. Scar removal wouldn't be acne treatment. There are several ointments and gels that can be applied to lessen the appearance of scars.

Mederma has a scar gel that works. There are also several store brands such as CVS scar treatment gel that work just the same as mederma.

First you have to get treatment for Acne, according to the cause and type of Acne in you.

After treatment you can reduce scar by Dermabrasion or Laser therapy.

You can try home remedy such as, 20% Vinegar and 80% water to wash your scar 2 times dailyfor 15 days. But remember if you have active disease (Acne) then this wash may induce more scarring.

I am a Doctor But this is only an answer to your question in an open forum. So Please consult a doctor in person for any health related problems.
