Meaghan Cheung, why didn't she stop Madoff when she had a chance?

Tip for best answer: M$0.00
Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

Well, she says she and her team did everything possible to investigate: "If someone provides you with the wrong set of books, I don't know how you find the real books," she said in a New York Post article.

Her main accusers say she just didn't have the background or knowledge to effectively investigate. She says she's just mid-level management, that she oversaw lawyers and had plenty of folks at the SEC overseeing her.

My take, for what it's worth -- no one took it seriously enough that such a well-known figure in the industry would devise such a big scam...and therefore no one dug deep enough until there was finally just too much evidence to ignore...
