Mayor Nagin predicts "not enough beer" in New Orleans! Is this a real danger?

New Orleans is caught in a "perfect storm" party. In the middle of Mardi Gras, the football Saints are playing in the Superbowl. The papers quote Nagin saying "And let me tell you, there's not enough beer."

Will international agencies send in emergency supplies? Germany? Belgium? Canada?

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

It sounds like that's just his way of saying: "Boy are we gonna party!"

"We don't riot. But we're going to party like it's 1999," Nagin said. "And let me tell you, there's not enough beer. I think the beer distributors are working overtime. This town is going to have one heck of a celebration. That is in the middle of Mardi Gras . . . There's going to be a lot of people in detox, A.A., and what have you. We're going to have a good time."

Somehow I cannot imagine that anyone in the drinks business will miss out on the money to be made by allowing themselves to run out of supplies.

A later news article reported that the Abita brewery was down to a razor thin margin of supply. Brewing good beer takes time and you have to plan in advance.

Maybe Japan will volunteer their beer, no one else seems to want it ;)

The Japanese have some very good beer. As in the USA, you have to look around for the good stuff. But, they have it.
