Matte and Glossy laptop screen for Mac Pro?

Looking at getting a laptop screen-replacement, but I don't know whether to get a glossy or matte finish on the screen - I will be doing mostly image and video editing, but not gaming. Looking at the MacBook Pro, so which is better and why?

Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

Hi,

Look at the photo below. You can clearly see the difference between "matte" and "gloss" screens. (Left in both is "matte" and right in both is "glossy").

"Matte" is a form of style which doesn't reflect light but often has a grainier look. They are good for open spaces as they do not cause "reflections" on the screen, a recurring problem. Personally, the general look is dull and not colourful and pleasing.

"Gloss" is a form of style which can reflect light but has a shiny surface and a vibrant colourful look. It doesn't always reflect and personally, I would recommend purchasing the "Gloss" version.

If you're going to be working outside a lot behind direct sunlight, matte will be a better option for you as they don't glare; however in almost every other situation, glossy is more "Pretty" to look at, and the colors look more visually appealing. This web site explains it: http://www.screencountry.com/index.php?section=downloads&view_article=1213241948&mode=preview&order_by=topic&display_topic=1212621381&edit_language=English
