Also, Matthew was written to the Jews to show that Christ was the King they rejected, while Mark was written to the Greeks to show Christ as the perfect man. These different goals make certain details more important to one writer than another. Matthew makes a point of the facts that Pilate washed his hands of the judgment against Christ and that the Jews accepted the fact this His blood was on them and their children.
