Are the odds of finding a winning lottery ticket about the same as buying one?

You are less likely to find a winning lottery ticket than purchasing one, because if a winning lottery ticket is actually printed, the person who bought it isn't going to drop it! Plus, you can have an infinite chance of purchasing a ticket, but you cannot control finding a lotto ticket, and will probably not find one on the ground very often, if at all.
