which martial art requires the least amount of physical contact for self-defense?

I recently watched a movie about Brazilian jiu jitsu, and it looked pretty cool and seemed like it would be effective for a little guy like me, but all that grappling seemed a little, well, gay. Is there a martial art that would be effective for a small guy that doesn't involve so much man-on-man contact? (Not that there's anything wrong with that).

If there's no contact, how do you defend yourself against an attack? By mind power? If so, that would be pretty awesome...

In general, the martial arts where impact is more central (e.g. Kung Fu, Karate, kick-boxing, Krav Maga, etc.) will reduce contact to minimal (though more forceful) impacts (e.g. kicks, punches, blocks, etc.).
