As I was a teenager at the time, (the song was released in 1989), that song had quite an impact on me, for obvious reasons :)
In hindsight, it is strange to see how the 'godfather of punk', who practically did everything that was forbidden, could release a song as sensual and 'sweet' as that.
What I also didn't know, is that the man started out as a designer, and was actually married to Vivienne Westwood! What an odd couple that must have been.
It is sad he succumbed to Mesothlioma, a rare form of cancer linked to asbestos, and I think he passed away far too early. The man had obviously still a lot of spirit in him, as he had been working until his illness got the better of him.
Despite all his failures and flaws, he surely is a man to remember...
