How much on average do you end up saving when building a steel home?

Looking to build a 1400-1500 sq ft house. It would be rectangular in shape, and two stories. Would want a steel frame, and partial steel on the exterior. I am just wondering how much this saves over a typical wood frame house. Layout would be similar to this:

How interesting. I had been looking at monolithic concrete as an alternative to wood but this steel building company sounds pretty good too. But, it's not really for saving money in building. What it ought to do is save money and risk over the long term. Termites don't eat steel. Steel doesn't burn, although if you have a lot of wood trim etc inside that can burn and melt the steel. Steel is strong in a strong wind. The main problem will probably turn out to be finding someone to build the building. Many new building ideas are shot down simply because home builders stick with what they know and don't want to learn anything new. I would keep investigating this though if I were you. In fact, I'm going to keep investigating it myself.

The best way to know is to contact the website, and ask them how much exactly it will cost!

Good luck!

It completely depends on what part of the country you live in. Several locations it's not cheaper it's more expensive. Any place where lumber is local and steel is not.

Not too long ago, I asked one of my clients who is a building contractor what the difference in price was between a steel building and a wood building. He said that because of the run up in the price of steel due to the demand in China, the price difference was negligible. That was before the collapse of the economy in October so maybe there is some difference now.
