How much does a pool cost (on average) per year in the SF Bay Area? (Heating, maintaining, etc..)

We're house-hunting and have seen a few homes with pools. There are a few obvious pros and cons. However, one of the cons is the cost of maintenance, and I have no idea what that cost is.

What would it cost to maintain an average sized, in ground, pool in San Jose?

A pool maintenance service costs $130 per month.
Running the pumps costs $4,000/year.
Heating the pool costs about $1200/year.

You're looking at around $7000, but you can possibly cut that down using a solar heater, which costs around $4000.
