Mahaloians! Will you help out this holiday season by donating some of your M$ to a good cause?
Mahalo Answers has raised quite a bit of money (many Mahalo Dollars) for good causes in the past. Two great examples are from January of 2010 when we drummed up M$442.84 for the victims of the earthquake in Haiti with "Let's reach out for the Haiti Victims" and from Thanksgiving 2009 when Mahalo Answers was able to "pass the hat" and fill it with M$766.51 "Let's help out a charity this Thanksgiving". Those were some seriously remarkable examples of the generosity of Mahalo Answers.
Thank you to all of you who gave. Let's do it again.
Anyone wishing to help out this holiday season please add what you can to the "Team Tip" on this question. You can add as little as a Mahalo Penny or all the way up to the sum total of your Mahalo millions! A little or a lot, every Mahalo Dollar counts and it is all up to you.
After is all said and done I will select Mahalo staff member's answer as the best answer and we will donate all of the Mahalo Dollars collected to the "Holiday Donations" section of the store. Heifer International is a great charity that exemplifies the spirit of the giving season by distributing sustainable resources like goats, honeybees, rabbits, and baby chickens to those in need.
So please Mahalo Answers, will you help out?
As you answer here....
What are you grateful for this holiday season?
You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

I'd also like to point out that the Mahalo Store is filled with great charity options, some of which, like Big Brothers Big Sisters, haven't received the recognition they deserve.
As for what I am thankful for this holiday season, I would have to say my family and having a job that provides us a comfortable living (where I can afford to spend my Mahalo "play money" trying to help out a good cause!)
As mentioned, every penny helps out. Happy Holidays!!!

M$I am just thankful everyday about the blessings I am receiving in all areas of my life even sometimes there are unhappy moments (who hasn't) and glad being able to share them with love ones. Hope that everyone here at Mahalo have a blessed season.
Happy Holidays to all.....

M$This holiday season I am thankful for the love of my family and friends and the kindness of strangers. I must also say I am thankful for being able to give via Mahalo and because of better financial circumstances in my life this year.

M$I want to give on this thread because I didn't have the patience to save up enough for the cute bunnies. Heifer International is a great charity that I hope will stay up year round at the Mahalo Store. I'm sure many of the countries that benefit from this service need it throughout the year and not just November and December. "Give a little so that other can have enough" is my motto.
What am I thankful for?
As @briansan said, of course I am thankful for the family I have, but I am also thankful for my Mahalo family who is here for me every time I log on. Thank you all for making this a great year! (big hug!)
PLEASE PASS THE PHU!

M$I am grateful in being alive and have recently celebrated 54th birthday (Dec. 19) because some people don't make it. God knows, I hope to see 2011 and celebrate more birthdays.
Thanks Mahaloian Staff for having me to be part of your family...♥

M$Hi @devaguptam,
The donations are going to one (or possibly more than one) of the charity options available on the Mahalo Store, likely Heifer International, who provide livestock to help families in poverty around the world get a start.
Thanks for your donation, and I wouldn't worry too much about your last $2. Other opportunities will always come up on Mahalo to help out.

M$This is a very touching idea. I am happy to donate my $17 to such a great cause.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all the wonderful Mahalo people!!

M$Hang tight @maurice, I'm trying to get to the bottom of this issue. I suspect there is a bug going around regarding tipping and I have started a bug thread - http://bit.ly/eC0k6K - and sent an email to Mahalo. Your intention is there and that really does count. Thank you very much.
Happy Holidays :)
I tipped the $17 about 15 minutes ago, but it hasn't been removed from my account yet. Is there a delay? Or did I do something wrong?

M$I hope the folks in need get some chicks and bunnies! Truth "bee" told, I'm a little scared of bees, although I love what they make; that said, I hope they get some bees too, but that no-one gets an ouchie!!
In the meantime, I'm so thankful for my gorgeous, wonderful wife, my happy, healthy, hilarious little boy, all of my family, all of my friends at home, and here on Mahalo. May you know peace this season, be fortunate next year and have many happy returns!
May the road rise with you friends, and Merry Christmas!

M$I don't have much yet for mahalo dollars ($3), but would love to offer 2or 3 to any of those worthy causes.
I am so grateful for my two cats, being single, who are always at home for me. I am grateful to my brothers and sister for their support, financially and emotionally.....going through some medical issues. I am grateful for local and state programs which have provided needed home repairs. I am grateful to God, for all His blessings that I receive through the love of clients, friends and coworkers, and am able to give and share with them. I am also grateful for my talents and abilities, as well as these online social communities.
Take care!
Kay

M$Sure thing, any Mahaloian from anywhere that has access to the internet can donate to any question on Mahalo Answers and/or make donations to any of the charities available in the Mahalo Store :)
Hello dosei3 san,
If you are trying to donate to charity, I believe that you can still do so without needing a U.S. address, but to make sure, it is best to ask the Mahalo staff.
yoroshiku!

A HUGE thank you to you as well Brian. You thankfully have been a big part of every one of these type of threads and have always been extremely generous. Thank you, thank you, thank you, and thank you. :)
@brian san FTW!!!! Mad props Brian, your generosity is beyond appreciated from the Mahalo office and crew!
Hi All,
As this charity question ended on Christmas Day, the "best answer" ended up coming to me. Within the next day or two, the Mahalo staff will transfer the funds over to the charities from the Mahalo store where they belong. I hope everyone enjoys the holidays and feels good about these donations to great causes.
I just wanted to mention that after less than 24 hours, these donations by the Mahalo community are a huge success! If this rate keeps up, it could top $800 by the end of 4 days (hey, we can dream, can't we!!!) Just for a little perspective, $315 would buy one of every holiday donation in the Mahalo Store (currently $107 more to go) And $515 would buy one of every holiday donation plus a donation to each charity on the Mahalo store. (currently $307 more to go) That would be a donation of a Flock of Chicks, Honeybees, Trio of Rabbits, a Goat, Sweet Potatoes, Pumpkin Pie, Canned Goods, a Turkey as well as donations to Unicef, Big Brothers Big Sisters, Cancer Research Institute, The Humane Society, Doctors Without Borders, Kiva, The Hunger Project and the American Red Cross!!! But even if it ends right now, it's something pretty special.
