Mahalo is adding a tip to all questions that don't offer a tip.
Shouldn't Mahalo's search bring up partial results from Mahalo first, then from the other sites?
The thing that has irked me since I joined Mahalo a couple of years ago is that you need an exact page title in order to be taken to a page. Otherwise, you're shown regular old search results.
Say you're looking for information on the WWDC 2009 keynote announcements, for example. One might search for 'wwdc 2009 keynote', 'wwdc 2009 keynote announcements' or a number of other things -- too many to create redirects for.
If no pages are found, Mahalo just brings up results from another engine (Google, Yahoo?). Wouldn't it be better if there was a section at the top, before the Google/Yahoo results, that showed similar Mahalo pages? For example, "WWDC announcements" might bring up the "WWDC" page, "WWDC 2009" page, "Apple" page (since WWDC would be on there somewhere), etc. The user can then decide that if neither of those is relevant, to continue down to the Google/Yahoo results.
Additionally, if a user decides to create a Mahalo page for their search term, these suggested pages could be suggested for the 'related mahalo pages' section!
Wouldn't it be better if Mahalo did something like this?
