I have updated my page on Bill Clinton to include a paragraph on his visit to North Korea to negotiate the release of two American TV journalists sentenced to 12 years in prison for illegally entering the country.

Great job on the Clinton update. I made three tiny changes in your paragraph. Can you tell what they are?

Sorry for the delay. You recently let me know directly what you updated so it's a bit too easy to see the changes! Thank you for the updates.

Thanks!
I have updated the paragraph to include the fact that the journalists have now been freed. Looks like Clinton is the one who did a great job!

Nice!
I've given it a try for my new Avatar movie page. I realize the page itself is not really up to scratch, still lots of work to be done. However, this is a page that will hopefully become way more popular in the future, when the film is about to be published.

The page is this one: avatar, and the news item is the upcoming Avatar Day, which will show footage in IMAX theaters for free, whihc should be of interest to all who want to know more about the movie.

Looks good! Do you realize you have two related sections on your page?

You mean the trailer and the poster? Indeed, but I don't know how to combine both in one 'featured' section. I guess that should be possible too.

Two "related sections"

Just "X" out one of them.

I also think the film summery would be better a text section in the "Guide Note" as oppose to the "link section"

However, the news update is perfect! Great job

Nice tips here @jeffhoard, thanks.

I recently added news about the increased prize money for 2009.

I'll be updating the US Open Tennis page regularly as the tournament approaches this month and then daily during the event. Lots of great athletes and tennis action including Roger Federer, Serena Williams and many others on both the mens' and womens' ATP tour, check it out...!

I have a question regarding SEO optimization for breaking news. I'm definitely a noob regarding SEO but I was kind of under the impression that keywords should be higher up in the page, thus for breaking news, we'd want to put terms regarding the latest news first. Am I totally off on this?

Mahalo wants to keep a certain standard continuity to all of the pages. And that means keeping the breaking news to the second paragraph.

I think that makes sense. I don't think the placement of breaking news keywords in the second instead of first paragraph is really going to outweigh the usefulness of having a uniform format for all pages on Mahalo.

Good question, the two paragraphs combined is usually under 300 words, so as far as I know the keywords in both paragraphs should count. Updating the news section on your page regularly should give you better rank.

I just picked up a new topic page: NBA Schedule as it was released today.
http://www.mahalo.com/nba-schedule

When I picked up the NBA Schedule page, it looks like it hasn't been updated for a while. There are still also more work to be done.

Recently, I also updated Lamar Odom page.
http://www.mahalo.com/lamar-odom

The announcement of Odom's contract re-sign was last week but the breakdown of his salary and details of his contract has just been announced.
