* Can't see who gave answers "Helpful" or "Unhelpful" ratings - all I see is the number of people who voted whichever way, in parenthesis beside the boxes as usual.
* Just noticed that avatars don't always show up. Before I clicked on "edit" just now, for example, Budawiggi's was missing (his avatar's, like, right above this answer, at least right now).

* Changes to section titles, at least in the guide notes column, aren't reflected right away. When I click edit again, the text field has the correct name, but the heading doesn't change... this happened on the Adium page, for the "Top Brands" heading -- it should be "Supported services". The "Top Brands" heading appeared about 5-10 minutes later, even though I refreshed multiple times. A caching issue, perhaps?
* Speaking of caching, I have to login a number of times in order for Mahalo to accept the fact that I have logged in. Some pages it looks like I'm logged in, and others not…
* When changing the page title, there's a checkbox that simply says "Content?" -- what is that supposed to mean?

Judging by how much much point/dollar amount has dropped, it looks like I'm back to last Thursday or Friday's levels.
My profile page shows no friends...which makes me a little sad, cause I miss their smiling avatars. Speaking of avatars, when I submitted a reply earlier, for a short while my avatar was a newbie with a white belt.
I'm sure the bugs will get worked out.

Thinking "Real Estate" must be a pretty tough topic to claim, she went through the same process for "Marin County Real Estate" and the page was created, but this time went to another brand new white belt named "jaxter1123" -- and then suddenly she was logged in as "jaxter1123." Her login changed again randomly as she continued to play around, this time to a manuel1234 or something like that...

- When on the front page or searching, sometimes the number of answers to a question is incorrect.

--My profile has a split identity, one with (nearly) full points and tips and updated avatar, and one about 200 points and $2 short with the original avatar. Sometimes one profile comes up, sometimes the other. Activities and points earned under the "short" profile are showing up there (usually--see below) but are not showing up under the full profile.
--Random logouts and inconsistent logins.
--Disappearing and reappearing open questions (sometimes--possibly associated with the short profile?).
--"Short" profile itself is variable; recent activity seems to be showing up only some of the time.

When I click "Send Message" the feedback that it was sent was a slight change at the top of the page. But as I wrote an email, my eyes move down the page, and the brain doesn't focus on the top.
I would suggest that the entire page changes, so it is more evident that the message went through.
Found another problem. It seams that some questions have disappeared. This question was online last night. It is now gone.

2. Page views.
I've certainly viewed more pages than are noted in my stats.
The total hasn't increased all day, even with a lot of activity.
When I logged in I got the "you have viewed your 460th page" notification. (That's where I left off yesterday.) I signed out and back in and a bit later I got the "480th page" notification. I don't think my page count has increased in days to be honest, even though I've gotten the points for them..... I've been keeping an eye on it.
3. I'm missing around 300 points. I was quite close to purple tip but when I signed in I was around 400-500 away (don't remember exactly). These wouldn't be just todays points like you mentioned in the question but a few days worth, likely from Saturday on to estimate since I haven't had much activity the last few days.
4. I also have been unable to locate the page that shows you a summary of your tips.. Relocated/gone?
5. And not all my answers are staying put! (Like this one I had to post more than once!)
6. The submit button doesn't seem to be working when you edit questions?
7. I haven't gotten an email all day from Mahalo and I typically have tons.
So far everything else is running quite smoothly for me, no other complaints!

I claimed & submitted 2 tasks. Now they show up in two different sections.
The "Tasks Under Review" tab (where I would expect them, but also in the "Rejected Tasks" section.
Now I'm not sure if it's a bug or that my answers are rejected.

3. Not getting emails--though this is nothing new. I have never gotten emails, and had been hoping that the update would fix the problem. :-)
Good luck fixing everything, folks. Site upgrades can be...what's the nice word?...challenging, I know.
BTW, is there a place we should look to see status of fixes, or should we just hang out in this thread?

When I was searching for pages, I clicked to go to the next page and I was brought to a page saying Mahalo had an "internal service error". I'm not sure how or why it happened, but I had to let my computer and Mahalo rest for a bit.
Oh, on a lighter note, I found kind of a funny error.
Whenever you type in Mahalo, it underlines it in red. Like it's saying that it's spelled wrong! You would think that a website would make it so their name was in the online dictionary! haha Oh, and when you right click on it, it says that Mahalo should really be spelled; Mahala, Ma halo, Mahalia, Mahatma, or Mahavira. Isn't that last one Gandhi? haha anyway, it might just be a Firefox problem, but it should really be fixed.

Let me change the topic a bit, I would suggest that anyone working on their pages keep an electronic and or paper copy of everything. I thought I would be clever and tinker with 2 pages without reading and watching all the instructional material, and it did not turn out to be too clever at all. Now minor things, I am not sure if I just don't understand how to use the commands or if it is a bug as some minor things are happening that I do not expect. Keeping in mind that you are also running updates and patches and such while we are online and that could be it too. So, will try again after learning how I am supposed to do it, and then see if a few things still vanish or don't move like I expect them to. Also, it is probably my fault for not logging out every time I leave the system and I wonder if that is not updating my account properly, will try to be more careful on that. Just minor things so far and I have not been helping the situation either - great job everyone!!

I try to ask a question, but the session hangs after I click the button to proceed with deducting a tip from my tip balance, or the session will immediately come back saying my user doesn't exist or isn't authenticated.
Personally, if it were up to me I'd roll all the changes back to the previous stable production version and maybe create a whole separate test instance with the changes integrated and "pretend" points and dollars and let people play around with that, with some big hover or other alert informing them that for "real" stuff they should hang out at the old site.
Anyway good luck. Now I'm off to try to find answers elsewhere to an urgent question that I was hoping to post here but alas.

2. Unable to claim a page as a page manager. Page is Electric Cars.
3. When click a link on Page Builder panel, I get the "unresponsive script" error

For the most part, it's working pretty well. The typical growing pains (as have been reported prior to this) but good overall.
But a couple of issues:
1. Redirects are not always working. For example, I'm managing Major League Baseball. I want to redirect "MLB" to the Major League Baseball page, but there is no "redirect" link on the Major League Baseball page. I find this is similar on other pages.
2. Earnings figures. I have seen some pages with a number of page views and zero earnings, and I have see pages with zero page views and some amount of earnings. I'm sure there's some rhyme or reason as to how that is calculated. But if you can let me know which pages I can manage where no page views lets me earn M$, that would be great. ;-)
3. Strange ads. Is there a way to customize what ads go on the page? Granted, I haven't read the how-to guides word for word, so if the answer is in there just tell me that and slap me upside the head. But some of the ads are not targeted very well. For example, the Nancy Pelosi page has some obvious anti-Pelosi (or pro-Republican) picture ads, and I'm not sure that's what we're looking for. Can those be customized, or at least the bad ones exed out?
4. Not a bug, but a couple of questions. We have to edit the page at least once a week.
a. Does deleting something count as an edit? Or just additions?
b. Is there a way to be notified when we haven't edited a page in 5, 6, or almost 7 days? When managing a number of pages, I'm sure it's going to be easy to forget that you haven't worked on a page in a few days. Can we either get an automated e-mail or just be notified in our profile that we're about to lose a page due to abandonment?
Thanks! And to the devs and Mahalo enginerds, great job. A big site upgrade is a wicked hard thing to do, so keep up the good work. The bugs will get sorted out soon enough.

You should have a maybe button. There were a lot of good answers in this thread. Maybe giving best answer to the person who listed the most bugs? (I know it wans't me)

When I logged on this morning, it did not give me the option to log on via facebook. Now that I am commenting on this question I have the option to 'Join or Login to Submit Your Comment' below. Which is a cool feature of the new 2.0, at least it would be if it hadn't apparently logged me out - because otherwise would I be getting this option? The login below gives me the option to 'Connect with Facebook'. However, the login with Facebook failed and didn't allow me to submit my comment.

I was at 3700 points +/-. I was at $41.25 Mahalo Dollars this morning and had requested a payout via paypal leaving my balance at $1.25, today I brought that up to 4.75 +/-. I am currently at 3176 points and $31.75 Mahalo Dollars and I cannot find a record of any payout. About the only # to remain the same is my tips paid out for answers at $10.00 before the switch and its $10.00 now.

I finished voting my limit today at 3250 points +/-, up from 3176 this morning that total also included 1 best answer(12 points), now my total is back down to 3195 points. My tips have gone up to 32.75 up 1 dollar from last night due to that 1 best answer however my total tips from preswitch time of 55.00-10.00 outgoing tips has not changed. Still cannot find a record of the pending paypal payment, of cousre because My tips are fewer than 40.00 although I requested a payment Tuesday june 2nd of 40 from my 41.25 balance that morning.

If not being able to see who voted what (helpful/unhelpful) is a new feature, that's cool. If so, there's still the line right below the "Helpful Answer?" line with the boxes. Line below that starts off the list of users, and how they voted - it's just blank right now, despite there being votes listed. So...something's not quite right yet - just not sure of what, I guess.
P.S. Not trying to nitpick or complain. I totally understand that, when you roll out something new, things are weird at first. I'm sure that the folks on the MA team will get things worked out pretty quickly. :)

I had the same problem with the points.. I know its not a big deal, but I was like 35 point to Green belt and was kind of wondering what happened.. Yes, I've been on mahalo since Dec 2007 and am just now getting green... maybe someday...

A new feature of Mahalo Answers is that it take away all you plumber question points, that why you notice the inconsistency :-) But seriously, I lost a huge amount of point too, have decided to run and hide until things get ironed out.

Does it explain how many pages a person can manage with a certain belt level? The only place I found that explained was in the error message saying I've reached my limit.

The "content" section is to tell the page that its a How To or a Walkthrough page with content in the body f the page, rather than the guide note. If you click it it will move the guide note section over t the right of the page, the way it is for "content-heavy" pages.

This is a major bug: I just added an "Images", "Videos", and "Twitter" section to a page (Mac OS X Snow Leopard). After I reload, about 5-10 sections appear for each of those.

One small bug on the profile pages: Under Answers > Tips, the "Question" links point to mahalo.com/answers/answers/category/question-name (404), instead of mahalo.com/answers/category/question-name.

I think I was up to $208 in "current status" tips, but the difference between that and $205.75 - what I'm showing now - is negligible. My only activity today - besides cheering for Robbrown's black belt test and for 2.0 - was voting on undecideds between 25 and 30 times. Judging by how much much point/dollar amount has dropped, it looks like I'm back to last Thursday or Friday's levels.
My profile page shows no friends...which makes me a little sad, cause I miss their smiling avatars. Speaking of avatars, when I submitted a reply earlier, for a short while my avatar was a newbie with a white belt.
I'm sure the bugs will get worked out.

UPDATE: I have gotten my green belt back, but NOT my money. And the "comment" avatar issue seems to fix itself after some time.

Relaying this from a friend: she joined Mahalo, her login name appeared in the upper right where it should (although she has yet to receive a confirmation email), and she searched for "real estate." She was asked "What is Real Estate?" and chose "Thing," she wrote the intro (Guide Note), saved, and the page appeared. Then she tried to claim it and was denied, a user named "cherp" had the page even though it was obviously created by my friend. "Cherp" is a brand new white belt. Thinking "Real Estate" must be a pretty tough topic to claim, she went through the same process for "Marin County Real Estate" and the page was created, but this time went to another brand new white belt named "jaxter1123" -- and then suddenly she was logged in as "jaxter1123." Her login changed again randomly as she continued to play around, this time to a manuel1234 or something like that...

One of my complaints about Mahalo 1.0 was that is was slow. I have noticed that Mahalo 2.0 seems even slower. Just overall usability is frustrating. Ex. clicking on links and nothing happening except the hour glass cursor. And it's not my internet connection. Other sites work fine, it's just Mahalo that is slow.

I keep on getting logged in as a random user, I am using safari 4 (Beta), am trying to create an account, I am qdietz, not the person you will see posting this (currently logged in as mynext45years, don't know who that is!). The thing is that it seems as if none of these users have confirmed their emails, thank god as or else this would give acces to accounts with money in them and senstive information. Hopefully luck will change here and I will be able to answer...

My wife and I were having the same issues last night. We signed up for the first time and were just looking around when our names changed. My username actually changed to my wife's username, though we were on differenet computers. My wife's username changed to an unknown name before. We both logged off and tried to reenter, but we were not recognized as having signed up yet. We read through the answers that others were having the same issue, so we called it a night.

The comments are now floated to the right instead of the left and aren't as wide as the answers, this makes it slightly easier to read (everything being on the right) but a different border color or background shade would be nice for comments.

I've noticed others have mentioned the same... When I logged in, I was missing M$10 and I wasn't a green belt anymore. I was back to a yellow belt with a green tip and it said I had 79 points to go. But really I'm supposed to be 500 some points away from getting my purple tip. *sigh* What are we going to do? I have faith in this whole thing. I guess we'll all just have to wait it out.

I just signed up tonight. My username keeps changing... Now I'm hummingbird3, it's about the 5th or 6th name I've seen so far. Worse yet, I am seeing people's email addresses, and given the opportunity to change them and to get a new verification email.

I did a quick check and anyone who has a space in their username is having the same error message "502 Bad Gateway".

Cool. My point balance is restored to what it was prior to the change, although I seem to have lost the points from yesterday (10 from best answer, 25-35 from voting, estimate). Still, an improvement!

I've noticed that I have to hit refresh a few times in Firefox to get answers from my profile to load correctly. For a while, it was showing a "we can't find that page" but a refresh would bring it up 30 seconds later. Belt and tips are actually correct. Yay.

2. yes, each page automatically has an image displayed at the top of the Guide Note, to change that image, go to the image section and find the one you want to represent you page > hover over it and click the double arrow, this will make it the first image in the list (first image is what displays in the guide note) > then pin it and it will stay there.

More of the same problems: --My profile has a split identity, one with (nearly) full points and tips and updated avatar, and one about 200 points and $2 short with the original avatar. Sometimes one profile comes up, sometimes the other. Activities and points earned under the "short" profile are showing up there (usually--see below) but are not showing up under the full profile.
--Random logouts and inconsistent logins.
--Disappearing and reappearing open questions (sometimes--possibly associated with the short profile?).
--"Short" profile itself is variable; recent activity seems to be showing up only some of the time.

On the contact page, where we send email feedback, there is very poor evidence of the fact that your email was submitted. When I click "Send Message" the feedback that it was sent was a slight change at the top of the page. But as I wrote an email, my eyes move down the page, and the brain doesn't focus on the top.
I would suggest that the entire page changes, so it is more evident that the message went through.
Found another problem. It seams that some questions have disappeared. This question was online last night. It is now gone.

I'm missing $6.25 (at least, unless I earned any more money overnight) and around 300 points-- I was around 430-something away from Black Belt. I thought I was going to hit Black Belt sometime this week. And I'm seeing easyeboy's problem, too, of inability to stay logged in.
I know you guys are working on it; just take this as an update that as of 8:30 a.m. EST, it's still not there yet.

The system just took away about 50 points I'd earned today, then restored them.
And the main reason for the comment: I've noticed that after I'd viewed 2 pages today, it said I'd viewed 400. Now it's at 460! When I look at my activity, it's not right until you go back until at least Saturday or possibly Friday; the short screen makes it hard to tell.

Every time I log in, it prints out a screen page! Oh, wait... that's my cat. Thank you for all the hard work with the upgrade. I can see a few bugs, but that goes with the territory. 1. A bit of an inconsistency with tips. The math doesn't quite add up (this has been going on awhile, not just now) m$18 (tips) + $5 (some bonus) - m$1 (a question) = m$22
Balance = m$21.75.

I've certainly viewed more pages than are noted in my stats.
The total hasn't increased all day, even with a lot of activity.
When I logged in I got the "you have viewed your 460th page" notification. (That's where I left off yesterday.) I signed out and back in and a bit later I got the "480th page" notification. I don't think my page count has increased in days to be honest, even though I've gotten the points for them..... I've been keeping an eye on it.
3. I'm missing around 300 points. I was quite close to purple tip but when I signed in I was around 400-500 away (don't remember exactly). These wouldn't be just todays points like you mentioned in the question but a few days worth, likely from Saturday on to estimate since I haven't had much activity the last few days.
4. I also have been unable to locate the page that shows you a summary of your tips.. Relocated/gone?
5. And not all my answers are staying put! (Like this one I had to post more than once!)
6. The submit button doesn't seem to be working when you edit questions?
7. I haven't gotten an email all day from Mahalo and I typically have tons.
So far everything else is running quite smoothly for me, no other complaints!

yep... definitely haven't been getting them. I chose to get new answers emailed to me for this question just to check it and now more people have replied and still no email :( I look forward to my hourly emails from mahalo!
I hope what happened on yahoo doesn't happen here.. They had a bug which stopped emails for a couple days... When they fixed it, the missing emails sent... every 7 minutes... for the next 4 days. Luckily I only had 2 or 3 emails being repeated but some people had dozens every round.

Not sure about points (can't remember what I had...) but they have increased, Tips seem to be back to the correct amount as well (roughly anyways.. Can't remember what I had here either) Thought it looks like it might be due to a large chunk of BAs, still no emails for them but it's getting better!

1. I claimed & submitted 2 tasks. Now they show up in two different sections.
The "Tasks Under Review" tab (where I would expect them, but also in the "Rejected Tasks" section.
Now I'm not sure if it's a bug or that my answers are rejected.

OK. Bunch of "me too" things: 1. Missing perhaps 2 days worth of points (60ish?).
2. Won't stay logged on.
3. Not getting emails--though this is nothing new. I have never gotten emails, and had been hoping that the update would fix the problem. :-)
Good luck fixing everything, folks. Site upgrades can be...what's the nice word?...challenging, I know.
BTW, is there a place we should look to see status of fixes, or should we just hang out in this thread?

4) Tried to send response to direct mail. After composing, I got a dialogue box saying "User not authenticated." Who? Me? Her? Logged back in.
I hope none of these are features! Dang bugs.

In Chrome 2.0 when clicking on settings it will load then disappear, if I click on change profile image, the settings re-appear, but the resend activation email does not work. Had trouble uploading an image. I just created this account but no activation email received, even after resending from the Answers page which does work.

I found a bug earlier. When I was searching for pages, I clicked to go to the next page and I was brought to a page saying Mahalo had an "internal service error". I'm not sure how or why it happened, but I had to let my computer and Mahalo rest for a bit.
Oh, on a lighter note, I found kind of a funny error.
Whenever you type in Mahalo, it underlines it in red. Like it's saying that it's spelled wrong! You would think that a website would make it so their name was in the online dictionary! haha Oh, and when you right click on it, it says that Mahalo should really be spelled; Mahala, Ma halo, Mahalia, Mahatma, or Mahavira. Isn't that last one Gandhi? haha anyway, it might just be a Firefox problem, but it should really be fixed.

Yes Mahalo is not a word in a most traditional dictionaries, in fact most website names are not in the dictionary, like wikipedia.

Seems like I should hacve WAY more points than I have - I think I accumulated around 100, but they don't seem to be reflecting in my credit towards my next belt level. I had best answer on quite a few, but those new 10 point credits don't seem to be crediting.
Of course, math and auditing are not my strengths, so I may just be insane...

When you think about how complicated it must be to make online databases that interact with each other, and how delicate it must be to weave it all together and keep the threads intact without tangling, all created with a few bucketfulls of on-off switches in an artificial language that is not alive until it "runs" I am amazed that anything works at all! I sure couldn't do it! Let me change the topic a bit, I would suggest that anyone working on their pages keep an electronic and or paper copy of everything. I thought I would be clever and tinker with 2 pages without reading and watching all the instructional material, and it did not turn out to be too clever at all. Now minor things, I am not sure if I just don't understand how to use the commands or if it is a bug as some minor things are happening that I do not expect. Keeping in mind that you are also running updates and patches and such while we are online and that could be it too. So, will try again after learning how I am supposed to do it, and then see if a few things still vanish or don't move like I expect them to. Also, it is probably my fault for not logging out every time I leave the system and I wonder if that is not updating my account properly, will try to be more careful on that. Just minor things so far and I have not been helping the situation either - great job everyone!!

Interesting issue I came across today... I received an email from Mahalo stating I had a new fan, that new fan is actually myself. While I do like myself, it seems a little strange that my profile could become a fan of itselfs!

Hello, I'm experiencing some of the same issues, but these seem a little "special": I try to ask a question, but the session hangs after I click the button to proceed with deducting a tip from my tip balance, or the session will immediately come back saying my user doesn't exist or isn't authenticated.
Personally, if it were up to me I'd roll all the changes back to the previous stable production version and maybe create a whole separate test instance with the changes integrated and "pretend" points and dollars and let people play around with that, with some big hover or other alert informing them that for "real" stuff they should hang out at the old site.
Anyway good luck. Now I'm off to try to find answers elsewhere to an urgent question that I was hoping to post here but alas.

I agree, however, my guess is that they had a beta version working, but when they tried to integrate the old database, they ran into problems.

I recently claimed my first video game walkthrough (Sonic 3 and Knuckles) so that I could add videos and change some other things around. After doing so, many sections either deleted themselves or moved around on their own. I tried replacing them but the same thing happened to most of my replacements. When you get the bugs worked out, will everything go back the way I put it before things started moving/deleting themselves?

1. Getting "unresponsive script" error messages from Firefox loading SERPs and Answer pages. 2. Unable to claim a page as a page manager. Page is Electric Cars.
3. When click a link on Page Builder panel, I get the "unresponsive script" error
4. Getting MANY repeats of ads and (Flickr) images on SERP page electric cars. don't know if this is unique to the page. I can't land another example yet.
Tried to load a screen shot, but I guess I don't know how to load a screen shot from my computer to show you.
5. my Answers not loading up until I hit refresh
Running Mac OS10.3.9 Firefox 2.0.0.20

Couple of quick things. For the most part, it's working pretty well. The typical growing pains (as have been reported prior to this) but good overall.
But a couple of issues:
1. Redirects are not always working. For example, I'm managing Major League Baseball. I want to redirect "MLB" to the Major League Baseball page, but there is no "redirect" link on the Major League Baseball page. I find this is similar on other pages.
2. Earnings figures. I have seen some pages with a number of page views and zero earnings, and I have see pages with zero page views and some amount of earnings. I'm sure there's some rhyme or reason as to how that is calculated. But if you can let me know which pages I can manage where no page views lets me earn M$, that would be great. ;-)
3. Strange ads. Is there a way to customize what ads go on the page? Granted, I haven't read the how-to guides word for word, so if the answer is in there just tell me that and slap me upside the head. But some of the ads are not targeted very well. For example, the Nancy Pelosi page has some obvious anti-Pelosi (or pro-Republican) picture ads, and I'm not sure that's what we're looking for. Can those be customized, or at least the bad ones exed out?
4. Not a bug, but a couple of questions. We have to edit the page at least once a week.
a. Does deleting something count as an edit? Or just additions?
b. Is there a way to be notified when we haven't edited a page in 5, 6, or almost 7 days? When managing a number of pages, I'm sure it's going to be easy to forget that you haven't worked on a page in a few days. Can we either get an automated e-mail or just be notified in our profile that we're about to lose a page due to abandonment?
Thanks! And to the devs and Mahalo enginerds, great job. A big site upgrade is a wicked hard thing to do, so keep up the good work. The bugs will get sorted out soon enough.
