How Should I Format This Featured Object for my Mahalo Page?

I have added a Featured Object to my "New Moon" page. The object is a photo of Bella's birthday cake (from the movie), and I'd like to include the recipe for how to make it in the description. Tricky part: The recipe was originally printed on InStyle magazine's website, so my thinking was that if I italicized the actual recipe, and then footnoted it, I would be okay in giving proper credit. Right?

Well even if I am right, the problem is that it seems like I cannot perform any formatting in the comments section of a Featured Object. Any ideas?? I'd really like to make this work.

(If you want to see how it looks now, not very good: http://www.mahalo.com/new-moon ).

Thanks!

Hmm... I'm sure that someone will have a better answer... but here's my idea:

I'd put the URL to the full recipe below your introduction and reference it first. Like this:

==

To re-create Bella's Birthday Cake from the upcoming ''New Moon'' movie, follow this recipe.

These steps were published in "In Style", issue number 2. The original article can also be found online.

==

I would create a ref tag after the word online that points to the original source: http://www.instyle.com/instyle/package/general/photos/0,,20278123_20283772_20632052,00.html?xid=twilight-cake

Then, I would list out all of the steps.

I might also wonder about the image too. The image you've inserted is not sourced and republishing professional photographs without permission gets funny. I might either remove it or add a Image block immediately above / below the recipe that pulled photos using the search string "New Moon Cake".

I'm really interested in the other answers to this question because I have a couple of pages where i would like to do almost the exact same thing. Thanks for asking the question. This question also brings up sourcing offline material. I wonder what the best way to do that is?

@robbrown, I would like to create a ref tag, but either I'm not doing it correctly or the Special Object comment boxes won't accept that type of formatting. Hmmm....

And the image isn't from InStyle's article...I actually pulled it from a Google search from another website. See, I'm also fuzzy about what images pulled from Google searches are legal and valid to use. Could use some feedback on this - don't want to get anyone's panties in a bunch! ;)

I'm not sure about where a ref tag can be used either.

As for the image...

"I actually pulled it from a Google search from another website. See, I'm also fuzzy about what images pulled from Google searches"

To disclose this... I'm a "professional" (I do use that term very loosely) photographer. People pay for the portrait, product and other photos that I take. So I get a little "up in arms" about photo copyright stuff.... if you think it's fine to leave the nice looking photo and it's cool with Mahalo... giver.

Personally however, I think that there is a real difference between the automatic Google / Flickr pull that Mahalo is doing for the image blocks and simply inserting a photo onto a Mahalo page. I am very careful about the privacy settings on my Flicker account and technically ensure that the search engines like Google don't index my photographs. In short, I work to ensure that my photos aren't "lifted" and actively send out C&D letters when they are.

Again, do whatever you think is right and whatever someone from Mahalo thinks is right I guess.

It's a really nice photo though, Gno.

If someone emailed me and asked if they could display my photo on their website (or Mahalo) with a link back to my work, I'd say "yippee... I would love for you to do that".

Oh... or what if you make the cake yourself? I know it's a lot of work and might be a stretch... but that would be another way to solve the problem.

The ref tags (in fact most wiki code) doesn't appear to work in the description section of Featured objects, so I turned it into a link for ya @gno

@jeffhoard, that's awesome. Thanks! (Jeff Hoard to the rescue again, ba-ba-bum!)

Is there any chance that there might be a change made down the line so that we can use wiki code in Featured Objects?
